Joan Giaccio

Joan Giaccio, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 22nd, 2023, holding the hand of her loving daughter. She was born on January 29, 1941 in Dublin, Ireland to Joseph and Mary Brennan and was the middle child of eight brothers and four sisters. In 1962, Joan immigrated to the United States and lived in the Bronx, New York with her brother. She met the love of her life, Bruno Giaccio, at a dance on Fordham Road in the Bronx and the two were married in 1965. A year later, they gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Ida Giaccio. Five years later, a son, Bruno, was born, and they moved to New Jersey. They enjoyed a beautiful life together. A true storybook Romance of an Italian man and an Irish woman, immigrating to the New World and meeting in New York.

Always quick with a joke, she truly was the life of the party. Many, if not all, holidays were at “the house”, where she cooked, entertained, and made everybody laugh. Her family and friends were her life, and all were welcome to sit at the table and enjoy. Her stories of growing up in Dublin and Irish charm was delightful.
The only thing she enjoyed more were her five beautiful grandchildren William O’Neill, Brendan O’Neill, Emma Giaccio, Erin O’Neill, and Angelia Giaccio. She will be missed by all of those she met.
