Lucille J. Garibaldi- Banner

In Memory of

Lucille J. Garibaldi

We are honoring our gracious and loving mom/grandma, Lucille.

She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ in a home filled with classical and opera music and the enjoyment of her father singing opera. This is the time she discovered her love for music
She had piano lessons at a young age and the lessons certainly paid off, as she continued piano playing and singing for almost 90 years. She played music ranging from Debussy’s Clair de lune to Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”; but her favorite was music from the 1940’s, mostly big band stuff. She delighted everyone at family gatherings singing as she effortlessly played the keys!

Lucille met and and later married her next-door neighbor, Joseph Garibaldi in 1950. They lived in Elizabeth and had 4 children together. Later the family moved to Clark, NJ. She would drive her kids all around the county to look at the houses. They loved those drives, they were more of an adventure because they always got lost and had a lot of laughs about it! Lucille had 3 grandchildren who were the lights of her life, Marie, Kelli & Justin. In her later years, to her delight, she moved into Colonia and shared a home with her Beloved granddaughter Marie, who she always referred to as her “peanut”. She was their Grammy and she referred to her granddaughters as her “girlfriends”.

We will always remember her for her lovely music, sweet smiles and kind words.

Remembering the beautiful piano playing and singing next door - and always greeting us with smiles and stories of what's happening in the neighborhood! What a sweetheart! Even with her "forgetfulness" - she always remembered how to be a classy gal!

In memory of this one-of-a-kind lady, neighbor and friend - -be at peace sweet Lucy - and may God bring comfort to the family.

Your Grandmother was the sweetest kindest women! She took me as an "extra" grandchild and I will never forget her kindness in including me. She was a joyous spirit and she will be missed. May she smile down from Heaven on her family always!
